On May 11th, over 80 people gathered at the Queensborough Community Center to join me and my family as I announced my bid to win a council seat on October 15th. I’m running on a slate with the New Westminster Progressives which was founded in 2017.
Our city is at a crossroads. As we make our way out of the pandemic and begin to re-open our community, we need people in leadership positions at city hall who know how to get things done.
I’ve got a proven track record of success having played a senior role in a number of high profile non-profit and industry associations over the last 15 years of my career. Whether it was working to get care aides in BC the proper protections they needed during the COVID pandemic, or helping Indigenous people gain access to the funds they need to deliver key social programs, I’ve had a passion for public service.
In 2018 I ran for council with a great team of NWP candidates. Although we only had a few months to get our elector organization prepared for the election, we did extremely well. We elected Danielle Connelly to the School Board and almost got a second candidate across the finish line.
Once the votes were tallied up, I came in 7th place and secured almost 5,300 votes. I know that in this election we will build on that previous support and the NWP team will make a breakthrough at council.
I’m committed to working once again to develop a comprehensive campaign platform that will be released to voters later this year. I will be advocating that it incorporate commitments to help build more affordable housing, reduce traffic congestion and help to make our city more affordable for everyone.
New Westminster has great potential, but that can only be realized if you have a strong group of political leaders at city hall. That’s why I’m so proud to be running with mayoral candidate Ken Armstrong and my council and school board candidate colleagues.
